Ready to hear more about latte macchiato? It is one of the most popular coffee beverages in the world, but it is also quite often mistaken with a classic cafe latte.

Latte macchiato is the opposite of a macchiato. It is a foamed milk into which an espresso is poured (sometimes 2 doses) and optionally can be topped with whipped cream. A well-prepared latte macchiato has 3 visible layers. Starting from the bottom there should be milk, milk mixed with an espresso and light foam.
It usually has 200 ml and is served in the transparent glass so the impressive layers are easy to see.
As I mentioned earlier, latte macchiato is often mistaken for cafe latte, but there are significant differences. Firstly, cafe latte doesn't have visible layers and secondly, the preparation is variant. While making cafe latte we pour milk into espresso and latte macchiato is made the opposite way. What is more, this is why cafe latte has homogenous color under foamed milk.

Every coffee can become flavored coffe when we will use special syrup but in case of latte macchiato, the situation is a bit particular. It is because of the popularity of caramel latte macchiato (often incorrectly called caramel macchiato). In many cafeterias, this type of coffee is on the menu just next to classics like cappuccino or espresso. What is also characteristic is a chequered pattern or other decoration made on the top with the caramel syrup.

May your coffee taste great!
