Entr'acte: Drink up!

Today we will do something that should have been done at the beginning -  we will disenchant the coffee! It is still a common belief that coffee affects our health, but not in a good way. This statement is not necessarily true. Of course, there are people who have to limit their consumption of coffee because of their health issues, but in general, coffee has a quite good influence on our lives.

Here are some benefits of drinking coffee:

1. It is a source of important antioxidants.

There are up to 1,000 different antioxidants in unprocessed coffee beans! The content of such a large number of health-promoting substances puts the coffee even before green tea and raw cocoa, which are famous for the richness of antioxidants.

2. It is good for our heart.

Drinking moderate amounts of coffee (from 2 to 4 cups a day) reduces the risk of heart disease by 20%. The chemicals in coffee have anti-inflammatory properties and protect the arteries. Remember, however, not to give yourself too much caffeine during the day.

3. It gives you energy.

There is no doubt that the dose of caffeine gives energy and arouses, especially if you suffer from insomnia. Coffee is one of the best methods to overcome tiredness and drowsiness.

4. It makes us smarter.

Coffee not only makes you feel aroused but also affects your intellectual abilities. Caffeine will improve your reaction time, alertness, concentration and logical thinking.

5. It is a source of important nutrients.

Grains of coffee are a treasury of health-promoting substances. A mug of coffee provides you with vitamins B2, B3 and B5 as well as minerals such as manganese, potassium and magnesium.

6. It reduces stress.

The smell of coffee alone has a therapeutic effect. This aroma not only makes mornings a lot more enjoyable but also it reduces stress.

7. It protects the skin from the sun.

Polyphenols found in coffee beans protect skin cells and accelerate their regeneration. Although coffee can not replace you with a filter and hat cream, it can reduce the risk of burns and sun discoloration.


These are just a few benefits of drinking coffee, but the list is way longer. Nevertheless, I hope that I enchanted this so-called 'black death' beverage and these who were enemies of coffee will give it a try.
